Paname is Paris at its most intimate, the nickname Parisians give their city when they speak of it quietly, among themselves. The Mini Paname, a signature piece of Maison Ashoka, is the most everyday expression of the Paname line: a compact format, a recognizable clasp, a removable chain, here in Camel, Bamboo Sand and Black Lizard. The Brigitte, a flap shoulder bag, comes in two writings: the Oxymore plays on contrast, the Couture embraces restraint. The Marilyn is known by its rounded flap and a mechanical clasp designed for it alone. The Jolly and the Pretty, from the Kromatik line, carry a faceted fox pull tab; the Jolly, a tote, holds a laptop.

The Compagnon is the Ashoka Paris wallet, conceived as the feminine counterpart to the Brigitte bag, shown here as the Compagnon Couture Burgundy and the Compagnon Oxymore Camel. The Men’s Wallet in Black relies on its material alone. The large Mylo™ card holders are cut from a mushroom (mycelium) material that took more than five thousand iterations to develop. The Matéo and Lewis sneakers rest on a cereal-based material developed in Italy, in the Italian shoemaking tradition; the Lewis Leopard and the Matéo High-top Terracotta-Leopard are their boldest versions. The Joséphine scarf in Amber Dune, a long band of long-pile vegan fur, is handcrafted in Paris by Maison Quivernay, our sister house devoted to vegan fur.

Behind these pieces is a maison founded in Paris in 2018 by Frédéric Vergoz and Gwenaëlle Ferlicot. Its name comes from Ashoka, the Indian emperor of the 3rd century BC who renounced violence: proof that things can be done differently without lowering the standard. In 2024, the maison passed to the Attia family, who are growing it as a family maison. Vegan is not our selling point; it is our starting point.
