Marilyn

The Marilyn owes its retro look to its construction rather than to ornament: a compact format, a flap with rounded lines and, at its center, a ball-head mechanical clasp. The clasp was custom-designed for Ashoka Paris by a French family-owned industrial house, with expertise passed down through three generations. A tone-on-tone topstitch follows the outline, and the edges are painted to match the bag.

The Marilyn comes in two writings, one restrained, the other freer. The Marilyn Uppeal™ & recycled microsuede Black pairs the Uppeal™ body with recycled microsuede on the central panels, with a nickel finish, a Powder-pink lining and a logo embossed on the back. The Marilyn Uppeal™ & leopard print Caramel sets leopard-print panels on a Caramel Uppeal™ body, with a gold finish and a Sand lining.

Inside, three compartments, a patch pocket and a zipped pocket set in the back gusset keep the essentials in order, and an outer patch pocket sits on the back. The strap adjusts and detaches, taking the bag from crossbody to shoulder, and it can also be carried by hand. Each product page lists the dimensions and the lining composition.

The body of the bag is Uppeal™, crafted in Florence from apple residue, in the Florentine tradition of working fine materials. The Marilyn is crafted in our Portuguese partner workshop, dedicated exclusively to bags and accessories, where each bag is shaped from cutting to finishing.
