Care for AppleSkin®, eco-nappa & micro-suede | Vegan handbags – Ashoka Paris

Our creations are 100% vegan. To preserve their beauty and longevity, please follow the material-specific tips below.

General rules

  • Never use solvents, alcohol, stain removers, vinegar, harsh wipes or abrasive products.
  • Always clean with a soft cloth. Test first on a small, hidden area.
  • Heat: avoid long exposure to direct sun, radiators, or a closed car in summer.
  • Friction: repeated rubbing leads to normal wear over time — try to alternate how you carry your bag.

AppleSkin® care (apple-based material)

AppleSkin® is an innovative vegan material. Like other coated fabrics, it may react to oily substances (hand creams, oils, lotions).

Routine cleaning

  • Wipe with a soft cloth slightly dampened with clean water.
  • Dry immediately with a clean, lint-free cloth.

Greasy marks / slight stickiness

  • Avoid soapy water, vinegar and alcohol on these areas.
  • Lightly dust with talc or corn starch, let sit a few minutes, then wipe gently to absorb excess oils.

Avoid

  • Repeated contact with creams, oils and hydroalcoholic gels.
  • Prolonged exposure to high heat (direct sun, closed car, radiators).
  • Repeated friction on the same spot (handles, strap) which counts as normal wear.

Eco-nappa care (vegan leather)

Routine cleaning

  • Use a damp soft cloth. If needed, slightly soapy water, then rinse with clean water and dry immediately.

Avoid

  • Chemicals, solvents, stain removers, vinegar, alcohol, abrasive sponges.
  • Prolonged heat exposure and repeated friction that may mark over time.

Micro-suede care (vegan suede)

Routine cleaning

  • Brush gently with a soft brush (crepe style) to lift the nap.
  • For small spots: dab with a barely damp cloth, air-dry, then brush again.

Avoid

  • Soaking, chemicals and heavy rubbing.
  • Prolonged contact with dark textiles that may bleed (color transfer).

Storage & rain

  • If wet, let it dry naturally away from direct heat.
  • Store in a dry, temperate place, ideally in the cotton dust bag provided by Ashoka Paris. Avoid airtight plastic bags.
  • Do not overload your bag to preserve its shape and finishes.

Quick FAQ

My bag feels slightly sticky.

This may come from repeated contact with creams or oils. Wipe with clean water, dry, then dust very lightly with talc/corn starch. Let sit and wipe gently.

Can I use wipes or vinegar?

No. Please avoid solvents, vinegar, alcohol, stain removers and abrasive products that can damage the finish.

Can heat damage my item?

Yes, prolonged exposure to high temperatures (car in summer, radiators, direct sun) is not recommended.
