Our materials — The composition of an Ashoka piece

An Ashoka Paris piece cannot be reduced to its main material. It is composed of several elements — outer surface, lining, hardware — chosen with the same demand and the same philosophy: to offer vegan leather goods that compromise on nothing — neither quality, nor longevity, nor aesthetics.

The outer surface: vegan leather

The outer surface of every Ashoka bag, wallet or pair of sneakers is crafted from a material that replaces animal leather without imitating its flaws. Uppeal™ apple leather, bamboo leather, Mylo™ mycelium, Bio-Nappa cereal: each of these materials is presented in detail on a dedicated page.

The interior: vegan microsuede

Recycled microsuede Ashoka Paris

For the interiors of certain bags and for specific pieces such as the Brigitte Oxymore, Ashoka Paris works with recycled microsuede — a vegan suede made from 61% recycled polyester. Its soft, velvety touch reproduces the feel of traditional suede with a precision that surprises at first contact.

On the Brigitte Oxymore, microsuede dialogues with smooth Uppeal™ to create a textured contrast that defines the model's identity.

The lining: a fabric made from recycled PET

Recycled PET lining Ashoka Paris

The interior of every Ashoka Paris bag and wallet is lined with a fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. The collected bottles are sorted, regenerated into pellets, then transformed into textile fibres. On average, two to three bottles are enough to line an entire bag.

This lining is composed of 86% recycled PET and 14% elastane — a combination that ensures the suppleness and resilience expected of a high-end leather goods interior.

The metal hardware

For clasps, buckles and removable chains, Ashoka Paris chooses noble materials, selected for their longevity: brass and zamak, in varnished gold or varnished nickel finish depending on the model.

Brass, a traditional alloy used in saddlery for centuries, develops a patina that grows more beautiful over time. Zamak, lighter, ensures the precision of the structured clasps that signature the silhouette of Ashoka bags.

Caring for an Ashoka piece

To preserve the beauty and longevity of your piece, a few simple gestures are enough.

For models in UPPEAL™, bamboo leather or Mylo™, gently clean with a damp cloth, optionally lightly soapy. Avoid chemical products.

For pieces in microsuede, gently brush with a damp crepe brush.

Designed to carry across the seasons, our creations preserve their hold and allure over time when cared for with attention.
